Are you a visionary leader in cardiology ready to shape the future of cardiac care? We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Director in Cardiology to lead a highly regarded department at a major regional tertiary hospital in Queensland.

The Role

As Medical Director, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership and operational management of cardiology services, driving excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. This position is ideal for a collaborative leader with a commitment to delivering evidence-based cardiac care and mentoring the next generation of specialists.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, provide strategic direction, and champion service innovation across both metropolitan and rural communities including participation in regional outreach clinics, which may involve travel by light aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.
• Supervise and support junior medical staff and cardiology registrars.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and future development of cardiology services.
• Foster a strong teaching and research culture within the department.
• Collaborate with hospital executives and external partners to ensure service sustainability and growth.

About You

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology, or equivalent.
• Substantial clinical experience in adult cardiology, ideally with leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, supervision, and mentoring.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and patient-centered approach.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and rural health outreach.

• Remuneration package up to $536,916 p.a. (full-time equivalent) plus applicable Clinical Manager’s allowance.
• Flexible working arrangements: 40 to 80 hours per fortnight.
