Role Overview
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the electrical systems and components associated with shredding machines, conveyors, and facility-wide waste processing systems. This role is vital to ensure minimal downtime, operational safety, and energy efficiency within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Commissioning
- Install and wire electrical panels, control boxes, and motor starters for shredders, conveyors, bailers, and compactors.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Set up VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) used in automation of shredding processes.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, sensors, limit switches, and control systems.
- Diagnose faults using multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Respond to equipment failures, electrical faults, and emergency breakdowns to restore operations promptly.
Control Systems & Automation
- Support installation and programming of automation systems controlling shredding lines.
- Monitor system feedback and signals to ensure accurate and safe machine operation.
- Adjust control logic or wiring as required for process modifications or upgrades.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with national electrical codes, safety standards (e.g., OSHA), and internal safety protocols.
- Install and maintain grounding systems, overload protection, and emergency stops.
- Maintain proper documentation of electrical work, updates, and incident logs.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with mechanical maintenance teams, welders, and machine operators to coordinate repair efforts.
- Provide input on electrical improvements for machine reliability and energy optimization.
- Support training of junior staff or contractors on basic electrical safety and shutdown procedures.
Requirements
Professional Experience
- 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical systems, ideally in waste management or recycling.
Academic Background & Qualifications
- Licensed Electrician or Journeyman certification (industrial specialization preferred).
Languages & Technical Capabilities
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA systems is a plus.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office.

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dusty, and noisy environment.
