Hoist Engineer / Hoist Installer

Location: Irlam, Manchester - with travel.

We’re partnering with a well-established, rapidly scaling SME at the forefront of hoist hire solutions across the UK. With a strong pipeline of projects and continued investment in operational excellence, the organisation is looking to onboard an additional Hoist Engineer as part of its strategic workforce expansion.

This is a high-visibility, field-based engineering role centred around delivering safe, efficient installation and maintenance of inclined and vertical hoisting systems used across construction environments. You’ll join a tight-knit technical team and play a critical role in enabling customers to move materials safely and effectively at height.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service and maintain a range of rental hoisting systems, including inclined and vertical hoists.
  • Operate primarily across the M62 corridor, with regular work throughout the North West and Yorkshire.
  • Carry out occasional nationwide work, which may require overnight stays.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service as the front-line engineering representative.
  • Utilise tablet-based systems to complete job information, reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Attend the depot each morning before travelling to customer sites.

About the Environment

  • Well-established SME with a strong market footprint in hoist hire solutions.
  • Supported by an experienced engineering team (six engineers currently).
  • Forward-thinking operational culture with continuous improvement at its core.
  • Structured reporting line into the Engineering Manager.
  • A collaborative, hands-on team dynamic with a strong focus on service delivery and technical excellence.

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for someone who thrives in an autonomous, field-focused environment and brings a practical, solutions-led mindset.

You will bring:

  • Experience working “on the tools” within mechanical, electrical, plant, or site-based environments.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical understanding.
  • Confidence working at heights and in physically demanding conditions.
  • A proactive approach to customer interaction and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work without supervision while contributing positively to team operations.
  • Full UK driving licence (Trailer licence beneficial but not essential).
  • CSCS card or NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Installations is advantageous but not mandatory.

You’ll fit in well if you are:

  • Practical, grounded, solutions-focused and safety-driven.
  • Someone who values teamwork but is equally comfortable working solo.
  • Hands-on, reliable and motivated by delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Exposure to leading hoist systems and specialist lifting equipment.
  • Clear progression opportunities aligned to future growth plans.
