About the Role

We’re looking for a Founding Head of Marketing to define and execute HyperDev’s go-to-market strategy from the ground up.

Although this role carries a Head of Marketing title, it is initially a hands-on, individual contributor role. You’ll work closely with the founders to clarify who HyperDev is for, how we position the product, and how we generate early, high-intent demand — and you’ll personally do the work to make that happen.

This role is about direction as much as execution. You’ll own HyperDev’s marketing foundation end-to-end: defining ICP and messaging, shaping our narrative for developers and technical teams, and running early experiments across content, community, partnerships, product-led loops, and paid where appropriate. Rather than optimising at scale from day one, you’ll focus on learning, signal, and repeatability.

You’ll be responsible for deciding what not to do yet, killing ideas that don’t compound, and building conviction around the few things that matter most at this stage. Over time, as HyperDev finds product-market fit, you’ll help shape the marketing function and grow a small, high-output team — but only once the foundations are proven.

This is a role for someone who thinks like a founder, enjoys ambiguity, and is comfortable owning both the strategy and the hands-on execution.

What You’ll Do

Growth & Go-To-Market Strategy

    • Define and own HyperDev’s go-to-market approach, including ICP focus, positioning, and early demand strategy.
    • Decide which growth levers are worth pursuing at each stage, and personally execute early experiments to validate signal before scaling.
    • Identify, test, and prioritise high-impact channels (content, community, partnerships, product-led loops, and paid where appropriate).
    • Design and iterate on the end-to-end journey from first touch through activation, focusing on clarity, intent, and learning rather than volume.

Narrative, Trust & Community

    • Shape HyperDev’s core narrative and messaging, translating technical capability into clear, credible value for developers and technical teams.
    • Support founder storytelling and selective press or ecosystem exposure where it meaningfully builds trust and credibility.
    • Build early developer trust through authentic presence in relevant communities (e.g. Discord, X, Reddit), prioritising real usage, learning, and contribution over vanity growth.
    • Create durable content loops (written, demo-led, or community-driven) that showcase real use cases, product insight, and technical depth.

Growth Execution & Experimentation

    • Design and run focused growth experiments across landing pages, onboarding, email, and product surfaces to understand what drives activation and retention.
    • Work closely with product and design to test in-product growth mechanics and feedback loops.
    • Use performance marketing selectively as an experimentation and learning tool, not as a default growth engine, and scale only once messaging and demand are proven.

Measurement & Insight

    • Define what “good” looks like at each stage of HyperDev’s growth, and track the metrics that matter most for learning and decision-making.
    • Set up lightweight analytics and reporting to understand user behaviour, activation, and early retention.
    • Turn qualitative and quantitative insight into clear recommendations, trade-offs, and next bets.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6+ years in B2B SaaS marketing
  • Demonstrated zero-to-one go-to-market experience, ideally joining a product before or around early traction
  • Proven ability to define ICP, positioning, and messaging, not just execute against a brief
  • Comfortable operating as a solo IC, owning everything from strategy to execution in the early stages
  • Strong product and customer instinct, able to translate technical capability into clear, credible value propositions
  • Experience running early-stage experiments across multiple channels (content, community, partnerships, product-led growth, and paid where appropriate)
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to reason with imperfect data and make clear decisions under uncertainty
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with engineers, product leaders, and founders
  • High ownership mentality, comfortable making calls, changing direction, and being accountable for outcomes


Preferred:

  • Prior experience in developer tools, AI products, or engineering productivity software
  • Experience marketing to founders, technical leaders, or engineering teams
  • Familiarity with analytics and experimentation tools (e.g. GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, HubSpot)
  • Light technical fluency (e.g. APIs, automation, basic scripting, or working closely with engineering teams)
  • Experience scaling a marketing function after product-market fit
