Hexagon Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected and fast-growing Transport & Logistics company based in Thurrock for a motivated Accounts Assistant with strong Xero software experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, business. You’ll play a key role in keeping the numbers running smoothly behind a successful logistics operation.

 

 The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing purchase and sales ledgers in Xero
  • Processing invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and efficiently
  • Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial data is up to date
  • Assisting with credit control and supplier queries
  • Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
  • Supporting month-end tasks, including accruals and journals
  • Assisting with VAT returns, payroll prep, and expenses
  • Working closely with the Transport and Operations teams to support smooth financial processes

Requirements

·       Experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, or similar

·       Confident user of Xero accounting software (essential)

·       AAT Level 3 qualified or above

·       Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills

·       Solid understanding of purchase/sales ledger and reconciliations

·       Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

·       Clear communicator — professional and confident with colleagues and suppliers

 

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous experience in the Transport or Logistics industry
  • Knowledge of invoice factoring, subcontractor payments, or fuel card reconciliation
